It is a beautiful autumn day on the turndra. the reindeer calves are playing, running and jumping in every direction. Everyone is having fun - except for one calf who stand at the sidelines. His name is Half-a-spot.
When he was born, his mother noticed a crescent-shaped mark on his forehead. She thought he was special and beautiful, that she gave him the name Half-a-spot. During their journeys, she always watched over him, keeping him close when he nursed, where he felt safe. Back then, he was a lively and curious calf. Now he stands with his head lowered, sad because he wants to play and run with the others.
"you have an ugly mark - we don't want to play with you" the calves shout as the run away. "You limp like an old moose - stay away from us" they mock.
