Esben Holmboe Bang (b. 1982) was born in Copenhagen, but moved to Norway in 2001. He worked at several fine-dining restaurants in Oslo before opening Maaemo in 2010. In 2016, Maaemo received three Michelin stars – the first Norwegian restaurant to ever do so.
