Berit Inger Anne Eira Buljo is a Sámi author and health professional whose work bridges personal experience, cultural knowledge, and care. Raised in Guovdageaidnu, she draws on a life deeply rooted in Sámi language, traditions, and ways of understanding the world. Alongside a long career in the health sector, she has contributed to academic work on Sámi health and cultural awareness, with a particular focus on culturally sensitive care.
Her writing often engages with themes of grief, resilience, and lived experience. In both fiction and non-fiction, including the children’s book Mie muitalus / Mies fortelling (2025), she explores how loss and healing can be understood and communicated across generations. Through her work, Buljo brings emotional depth and cultural insight to contemporary Sámi literature, creating stories that support both understanding and care in the face of life’s most difficult experiences.
