Håkon Haakonsen is happy with his girlfriend Sigrid and her son David. Then they both disappear.
Sigrid's violent ex-boyfriend Muhammad has escaped from prison, and an elderly woman is run over and killed on a deserted road outside Sandefjord, with no one coming forward as a witness. David has also had bigger problems at school than Håkon could have imagined. Is there a connection between all of this? As time runs out for the two people closest to him, one thing becomes clear: He has never really known the woman he loves.
A thought-provoking and incredibly important book. Highly recommend! Rating: 6 🎲
A good crime novel about a boy who is bullied and a mother living with the fear of a past that catches up with her.
Myriam H. Bjerkli has established herself as one of the country's finest crime writers. This is due to the dimension she brings to her books that not all crime authors possess—namely, the timeliness of her themes, making her work not only gripping but also highly relevant and important.
Bjerkli shakes me as a reader with her unusually dark themes. If you thought Varg Veum's mysteries were dark, Bjerklis crime novels are pitch black in comparison... It's hard to remain unaffected after reading her, she leaves you breathless as a reader. Nothing is held back in her writing. Rating 6.
Bjerkli writes incredibly well. She is a master at making the stories so exciting that you’re glued to the pages, and if you try to put the book down – you’ll soon find yourself back in the sofa. This is a powerful story that you can’t easily let go of, even after you’ve finished reading the book.
