Trude Trønnes & Rosa von Krogh
Heroes of Divorce

This book is written for anyone who has been through their parents’ separation or knows someone else who has.

The book aims to be a guide and a tool for children and adults, to pave the way for positive conversations and to raise awareness of the child’s right to a place in the story of a divorce.

The book is structured around five stories of fictional children, along with expert advice from school nurses, lawyers and psychologists.

You will meet Marja, Lukas, Jakub, Emma and Ingrid, who all have two homes. Marja is having a bit of a rough time, with a dad who gets drunk and a mum who doesn’t know anything about it. Lukas has two parents who don’t talk to each other, while Jakub thinks his father is mostly interested in his new family. Emma’s parents have just separated and are dong a trial run of their new life, while Ingrid has a stepfather who is unkind to her.

In addition, the book has a children’s panel made up of five children who comment on the content and offer advice about the concrete problems: family, home, everyday life, conflict and achievements. The book uses stories about children from different socio-economic, family, ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The aim is for this book to be relatable for as many children as possible.
