When the sea became a monster

When the sea suddenly disappears one autumn day in the Stone Age, Eir runs down to the dry seabed and picks up shells and crabs. Suddenly, the water rises dangerously fast, and Eir is caught by a monster wave that washes her away.

The story of Eir uses the Storegga tsunami that hit the coast of Norway 8200 years ago as a starting point to tell about life in the Stone Age. You can read about what happens to Eir on the day the sea becomes a monster, and how she uses what she has learned from her extended family to survive.

This book also has a fact section where you can learn more about tsunamis and life in the Stone Age, and how archaeologists can know anything about what happened thousands of years ago.
