Mia Has Left the Chat

The obsessive thoughts have been haunting Mia for as long as she can remember.
If she doesn’t tap every fourth lamppost, something terrible will happen.
If she steps on the cracks, the world might end.

But no matter how much Mia counts, he’s still dead—because of her.

Mia Has Left the Chat is a powerful, intense novel about a young girl living with OCD. Sanne Mathiassen writes with honesty and insight about life inside an institution, the strength of friendship, and a family in crisis.

“Mathiassen has both an eye and an ear for life inside a psychiatric ward — and she writes with humour.”

“Mathiassen writes with pace, precision, and clarity … A gripping novel that enlightens as much as it engages.”

“A well-crafted, compelling book by a seasoned author. The prose is compact, focused, and enriched with striking turns of phrase.”
