Myriad
A journey through the former Yugoslavia

Goran Zlović was born in a country that no longer exists. Yugoslavia has dissolved, and new nations have risen from the ashes of the Balkan Peninsula. As an adult, he returns to explore one of the most underexposed parts of Europe.

Myriad is a literary travelogue that takes us through the landscapes and history of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia. Zlović takes us through demonstrations in Skopje, to a visit to an unusual zoo on Brijuni and to the diving club in Mostar – and everywhere traces of Yugoslavia's former leader, Josip Broz Tito, keep appearing.

The author is fluent in most of the languages in the area, which allows him to get close to the people and culture. Through friendly encounters and with a critical eye, he opens up the region for Norwegian readers and depicts the invisible threads that still bind the diverse Balkans together.
