Animals like us

You’ll never look the same way at a peacock, fruit fly or human baby again after reading this book!

How clever is a jellyfish? Why can birds, lizards, and frogs be brilliantly coloured while mammals are grey or brown, and what is a red deer stag meant to do with his crown of antlers? And why are we humans exactly the way we are? Why do we find kittens so cute, why do we spend a third of our life sleeping, and why do we feel safer in the light than in the dark?
In this smart and entertaining popular science book about the similarities and differences between humans and animals, zoologist Petter Bøckman looks for answers in biology – and finds them among the animals that are both so closely and so distantly related to ourselves.
