Ben Wenhou Yu (b. 1981, Shanghai) is a curator, architect, literary translator, and founding director of Northing – Centre for East-Asian Art and Culture in Bergen. He is a member of The Norwegian Association of Curators and serves on the board of Norwegian Crafts (2022–2025).
Ben received his architectural education at Tongji University in Shanghai and worked as an architect in Bergen for 12 years. During this period, he translated several novels from Norwegian, English, Swedish, and Danish into Chinese. His translation of Beatles by Lars Saabye Christensen was shortlisted for the Lu Xin Literary Prize for Best Translation.
Ben is also one of the co-founders of Northing - Centre for East Asian Art & Culture and Kinakaal Forlag (Chinese Cabbage Pulbisher). Books published by Kinakaal Forlag have won the “Most Beautiful Norwegian Books of the Year” award four times.
Besides his native language, Mandarin Chinese, Ben is also fluent in English, Norwegian, Japanese, and Italian.
