Franziska Hüther

Translates from Norwegian into German

Franziska Hüther (born 1988) studied Scandinavian Studies and German with focus on literary translation and children’s and YA literature in Frankfurt a. M. and Reykjavík. After receiving her Masters Degree in 2014 she worked as a language teacher for Danish, Icelandic and German, living in both Iceland and Denmark. Since her return to Germany in 2017 she has been working as a translator from the Norwegian, Swedish and Danish. She is a member of VdÜ and Weltlesebühne e. V.
Her work includes more than 40 translated novels, children’s and picture books by authors such as Niviaq Korneliussen, Åsne Seierstad, Mats Strandberg and Anne Cathrine Bomann. In 2019 she received the „Johann-Joachim-Christoph-Bode-Stipendium“ by the German Translator Fund and in 2021 she was awarded the German Children’s Literature Award for the translation of Marianne Kaurins “Irgendwo ist immer Süden” from the Norwegian.
