Rachel Rankin is a poet and translator based in Edinburgh, Scotland. She holds an MA(Hons) in Scandinavian Studies and English Literature and an MSc in Creative Writing, both from the University of Edinburgh. She is also currently in the final year of a PhD at the same institution, where she is carrying out practice-led research into diverse approaches to poetry translation with a focus on the work of Halldis Moren Vesaas and Cecilie Løveid.
In 2018, Rachel was chosen for the National Centre for Writing's Emerging Translator Mentorship Programme. Since then, she has co-translated books by Mona Høvring and Haddy Njie, and has translated a number of fiction and non-fiction samples for both children and adults. She has also translated for a number of organisations such as NRK, Oslo Metropolitan University, Munch Museum, Vinjesenteret and 22 July Centre, as well as facilitating translation events at Stanza: Scotland's International Poetry Festival.
