Paula Stevens studied Scandinavian Languages and Literature in Groningen and Oslo and has been a literary translator for many years.

2006 Commandor in the Order of Merit of Sankt Olav (for being an ‘ambassador’ for Norwegian Literature in Holland and Belgium)
2010 Amy van Marken Prize for entire translation-oeuvre.
2018 European Literature Prize for the translation of Max, Mischa & Tettoffensiven by Johan Harstad (in cooperation with Edith Koenders)
Longlisted for the European Literature Prize for the translation of novels by Karl Ove Knausgård, Lars Mytting and Roy Jacobsen in 2014, 2016, 2021 and 2022
