Siri Broch Johansen, who also writes under the name Juho Sire, is a Sámi writer whose work brings together storytelling rooted in language, landscape, and lived experience in Sápmi. An award-winning author, dramatist, and artist, she is widely recognized for her contributions across literature and theatre, moving fluidly between genres and languages, including North Sámi and Norwegian.
Her writing—ranging from children’s books to stage plays—often explores identity, relationships, combining poetic sensitivity with sharp social insight. Through her work, she contributes to contemporary Sámi literature by creating stories that engage younger audiences while carrying forward cultural knowledge and storytelling traditions, grounded in both everyday life and the deeper cultural landscapes of Sápmi.
