"Once upon a time there was a troll girl who lived beyond all houses, through the christmas tree forest, across the pond, inside the mountain at the edge of the meadow. Day and night the mountain was lit up by the sun, the moon, and the stars. The granite mountain had, for as long as anyone could remember, been the home of Alvina and her family."
Alvina is a forest troll. She wishes for a heart friend, but why does none of the animals in the valley want to play with her? After the thunderstorm, Alvina became trapped alone inside the granite mountain. The days and nights were long and lonely. She misses troll mother and troll father immensely. The silence was not the kind of friend Alvina wanted, and where was the troll harmony?
"Alvina, the friendless troll" is a fairy tale about being different and about friendship. The story teaches children to be inclusive and to prevent exclusion.
